Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor for its client, a Quebec-based manufacturing company with an international presence, located in Gatineau.
Under the supervision of the Paper Machines Superintendent, your main responsibility will be to ensure the daily supervision of all logistics operations, personnel, and work planning, including production, procurement, warehousing, as well as inventory management and non-conforming products.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Supervise, plan, and coordinate activities related to the receipt of critical supplies, the shipping of finished products, warehouse capacity management, and core inventory management;
Oversee production activities of the units within your sector (receiving/shipping and wrapping);
Promote the vision and mission regarding occupational health and safety and implement the necessary measures to correct situations that pose a risk to employees;
Manage the personnel under your responsibility by adopting a proactive approach;
Continuously seek improvement opportunities and participate in problem-solving while respecting budget constraints and applicable standards;
Collaborate closely with the department’s various internal and external clients;
Plan and participate in the physical inventory of the warehouse;
Prepare and lead weekly team meetings, and actively participate in departmental committees related to health and safety, order, and workplace cleanliness;
Ensure that employees possess the necessary skills to apply operational procedures and properly maintain environmental control conditions.
Requirements
Hold a college diploma or have relevant experience;
Have 3 to 5 years of experience managing unionized personnel;
Be available for operational on-call duty for one week, approximately once every six weeks;
Have experience in inventory management and/or logistics (an asset);
Ability to communicate in both French and English, orally and in writing;
Proficiency in SAP, MES/PA, and Microsoft Office (an asset);
Demonstrate managerial courage by addressing difficult issues transparently and making necessary decisions;
Ability to establish performance indicators and monitor departmental results;
Demonstrate autonomy and effectively organize tasks;
Ability to take a holistic view of situations and exercise sound judgment in decision-making;
Communicate clearly and collaborate with internal and external teams and stakeholders;
Manage multiple priorities efficiently;
Exhibit strong leadership and anticipate unforeseen events;
Work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high level of performance.
