Job Description

Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer for its client, a large international manufacturing company based in Crabtree, Lanaudière.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing reliability elements within the mechanical department of manufacturing maintenance. You will support supervisors and workers in implementing best maintenance practices. In addition, you will contribute to the standardization of maintenance methods and reliability processes, thereby promoting consistency and efficiency within manufacturing.

You will actively collaborate with other reliability engineers in the manufacturing sector by sharing best practices, providing relevant technical support, and working together to resolve common issues. This synergy aims to continuously strengthen the team’s overall performance and foster an environment of collective improvement.

Your Role and Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards, OHS regulations, and internal policies;
• Follow and promote OHS practices, report risks, and carry out required audits;
• Provide technical support during troubleshooting and emergency interventions;
• Standardize, maintain, and enforce best maintenance practices within the team and among subcontractors;
• Participate in the planning of scheduled shutdowns (Gantt) in collaboration with EHP teams;
• Update the CMMS (SAP): work orders, plans, drawings, MRO parts, and service/mechanical/piping/reliability sectors;
• Contribute to failure analyses (RCA) and implement solutions;
• Monitor and correct recurring failures and keep reliability opportunities up to date (Spartakus);
• Maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs;
• Ensure compliance with lubrication, vibration, and inspection routes;
• Propose and execute maintenance projects to address equipment obsolescence, including budget requests;
• Collaborate with business partners (OEMs) and explore new predictive technologies;
• Optimize the use of resources and parts to reduce maintenance costs;
• Review work orders prior to execution (time, parts, procedures, tools);
• Participate in the selection of spare parts with engineering and mechanics teams;
• Be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation for maintenance emergencies;
• Contribute to projects and support departments during project execution.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
• 5 to 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance;
• Knowledge of the pulp & paper sector (asset);
• Strong ability to plan, organize, and manage maintenance activities;
• Strong problem-solving skills;
• Ability to communicate in both English and French.
