Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Civil Engineer for its client, a large international manufacturing company. The position is based at the Crabtree plant in the Lanaudière region.

Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, your main responsibilities will include managing capital projects of a civil nature, as well as developing and monitoring an inspection and maintenance plan for buildings and the yard, in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Crabtree plant’s infrastructure.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for managing capital projects related to buildings and infrastructure (foundations, structures, roadways, drainage, etc.) under your supervision, including feasibility studies, cost estimates, plans and specifications, installation, modifications, and execution;

  • Develop and implement a preventive inspection and maintenance plan for buildings and the yard (drainage, paving, railway tracks, etc.);

  • Provide technical support to production and maintenance personnel to correct and resolve issues that may affect them (structural integrity, structural integrity of production equipment, compliance of lifting systems and anchor points, etc.);

  • Work closely with various internal stakeholders (operations and maintenance) and suppliers;

  • Monitor budgets and schedules;

  • Analyze and resolve day-to-day issues, propose improvement solutions while considering environmental, health and safety, and product quality aspects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;

  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in an industrial or manufacturing environment;

  • Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written;

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite;

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project (an asset);

  • Knowledge of the pulp and paper industry (an asset);

  • Demonstrated leadership in project management and follow-ups;

  • Ability to work as part of a team;

  • Proactive and shows initiative;

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
