Human Capital and HR Operations Manager
Job Description
Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Human Capital and HR Operations Manager for its client, a construction company based on Montreal’s South Shore.
A rapidly growing company currently employing approximately fifty employees, our client aims to double its workforce over the next few years. In this context, the creation of a new Human Resources department is essential to support and structure this expansion.
The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and maintaining modern, equitable HR practices tailored to the realities of the construction industry. You will act as a strategic partner to site managers and office leadership, ensuring consistency, compliance, and effectiveness of HR programs.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Develop and structure the entire recruitment process, including job postings, on-site recruitment (schools), pre-screening of applications, conducting interviews, updating job descriptions, and contributing to workforce planning;
Prepare and maintain employee files (hiring, departures, leave, absences, vacations, anniversaries, contracts, uniforms, etc.);
Provide support to employees and managers regarding the application of company policies and procedures;
Ensure compliance with labor laws and CNESST and OHS requirements on job sites, including the preparation of required documentation and implementation of necessary actions;
Coordinate and manage CNESST claims and disability files, from opening to resolution;
Coordinate the onboarding and integration of new employees;
In collaboration with company management, develop a strategic employer branding plan to attract talent to the organization;
Develop and maintain partnerships with vocational schools (DEP) by participating in recruitment activities to attract and hire future graduates;
In collaboration with the leadership team, organize events to foster strong team spirit (team building and Christmas party);
During your first year, you will be responsible for implementing a group insurance plan for all employees;
Manage employee relations, intervene in conflict resolution, and support employees;
Implement a performance management process, including the establishment of employee performance evaluations;
Perform any other related tasks associated with the creation of a new Human Resources department;
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and/or a related field;
Member of the CRHA Order (an asset);
Experience in the construction industry and/or in an industrial environment (an asset);
Strong organizational skills and excellent ability to manage priorities;
Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities
Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously;
Excellent writing and information synthesis skills;
Autonomy, confidence, rigor, dynamism, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
