Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Director of Internal Communications for its client, a global organization with more than 130,000 employees worldwide.
18-month temporary mandate – maternity leave replacement.
As Director, Internal Communications, you will lead a team of communicators responsible for translating business strategy into clear and compelling internal narratives while ensuring message consistency across channels and audiences.
You will oversee the planning and execution of communications related to employee communications, executive communications, and internal channel management, demonstrating sound judgment, executive presence, and a hands-on, proactive approach to delivering high-impact internal communications within a fast-growing, fast-paced B2B environment.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Planning:
Develop, refine, and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy aligned with the organization’s vision, values, and business objectives.
Collaborate regularly with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to align on key communication priorities and ensure consistency of messaging across internal channels.
Develop a deep understanding of internal business unit objectives in order to directly connect internal communications strategies to targeted business outcomes.
Ensure consistency and effectiveness of internal communications by adhering to established processes and guidelines.
Employee Engagement:
Design and implement initiatives aimed at improving employees’ understanding of business objectives while fostering a sense of belonging and pride within the organization.
Develop and manage communication campaigns, events, and programs that promote employee recognition, motivation, and collaboration.
Develop and deploy change communication plans to minimize employee resistance and support successful adoption of change initiatives.
Internal Communication Channels:
Oversee and optimize various communication channels, including the intranet (Microsoft SharePoint), newsletters and email communications, mobile communication platforms (Microsoft Viva Connections), and social collaboration platforms.
Ensure these channels effectively deliver important information, company updates, policies, and relevant announcements to employees.
Evolve these channels to create and sustain employee engagement as brand ambassadors and strengthen organizational connections.
Content Development and Management:
Create impactful and engaging content for internal communications, including articles, videos, presentations, and executive messaging.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and relevance of all internal communication content.
Measurement and Evaluation:
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of internal communications.
Analyze metrics and feedback to continuously improve internal communications strategies and initiatives.
Contribute to the sharing of best practices within the internal communications team through regular touchpoints.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead a team of internal communications professionals by providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to support their growth and development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Human Resources, Marketing, and senior leadership, to align internal communications with broader organizational objectives.
Foster a performance-driven culture within the team, deliver a wide range of initiatives and objectives, and manage the output and contributions of all team members.
Requirements
Degree in Communications, Business Administration, or a related field, and/or a combination of at least 10 years of relevant communications experience, including prior experience in a communications role within a B2B environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead global internal communications operations.
Strong track record of execution, with proven ability to manage multiple projects, mandates, and initiatives simultaneously.
Excellent storytelling abilities combined with strong synthesis skills.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint.
Ability to secure collaboration from a wide variety of sources, including managers and employees across the organization, executives, and external stakeholders, including those with whom no formal working relationship exists.
Ability to analyze and identify opportunities for improvement in order to ensure consistent quality and timely delivery of communication initiatives.
Strong adaptability to change and flexibility in responding to business needs.
Positive energy and maturity, with the ability to serve as a unifying force.
Excellent English communication and writing skills. Strong French writing and editing skills.
