Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Senior Financial Controller for its client, a highly reputable and rapidly growing provincial accounting firm based in Montreal. The firm has over 200 employees and continues to expand.
Working closely with the General Manager and members of the Finance team, you will be responsible for the accounting operations of the group’s entities.
Your Role and Responsibilities
• Implement policies, internal controls, and business processes;
• Plan and coordinate the full accounting cycle for the group’s entities;
• Prepare consolidation entries and the group’s consolidated financial statements;
• Prepare and present financial metrics and results;
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations;
• Participate in the budget development process;
• Monitor budgets and analyze variances;
• Oversee accounting and tax services provided to partners;
• Participate in decisions related to financing the group’s entities;
• Participate in the recruitment, training, and management of the Finance team;
• Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend continuous improvements as needed;
• Prepare ad hoc analyses upon request.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting;
• CPA designation or in progress, an asset;
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role;
• More than 3 years of experience within a professional services firm, an asset;
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel at an expert level);
• Advanced knowledge of payroll processes;
• Experience in project accounting;
• Experience in taxation (T1, T2, T3, T5, T5013…), an asset;
• Experience in investment accounting, an asset;
• Knowledge of Great Plains, Business Central, CaseWare/View, Taxprep software, an asset;
• Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality;
• Detail-oriented and meticulous;
• Hands-on and involved in deliverables when needed;
• Recognized as a collaborative and key team player.
