Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is seeking a Accounting File Preparer for one of its clients, a rapidly growing accounting firm. This person will support the professional teams (CPAs, auditors, tax specialists) by acting as a file preparer for clients based in Vaudreuil. This position is intended for a detail-oriented, autonomous, and efficient individual who is familiar with the realities of working in an accounting firm, without necessarily holding a CPA designation.

This role is ideal for someone in the process of obtaining their CPA designation who wishes to join an accounting firm now in order to gain hands-on technical experience that will directly support their professional development.

Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Prepare accounting files ahead of engagements (year-end files, compilation, review, or audit engagements)

  • Perform bookkeeping and accounting adjustments

  • Assist in preparing preliminary financial statements

  • Support CPAs in the preparation of audit or assurance files

  • File, organize, and structure client records (paper and digital)

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure deadlines are met

  • Apply internal procedures and maintain a high level of quality and compliance

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an accounting firm (mandatory)

  • Education in accounting (Bachelor’s degree, DEC, AEC, or equivalent)

  • CPA designation not required, but in progress is considered an asset

  • Good knowledge of accounting principles

  • Comfortable with accounting software (e.g., CaseWare, Taxprep, Acomba, Sage, QuickBooks, etc.)

  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously

  • Autonomy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills

  • Team-oriented mindset and collaborative attitude
