Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Senior Assistant Financial Controller for its client, a highly reputable and rapidly growing provincial accounting firm based in Montreal. The firm has over 200 employees and continues to expand.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller and working closely with the General Manager and members of the Finance team, the Assistant Controller supports the Controller and participates in all accounting and administrative operations of the team.
Your Role and Responsibilities
• Participate in the management and coordination of the full accounting cycle for the group’s entities.
• Participate in the preparation of consolidation entries and the group’s consolidated financial statements.
• Participate in the budget development process.
• Prepare financial analyses and budget variance analyses.
• Review and ensure compliance of the payroll process.
• Validate and document trust bank accounts.
• Participate in the preparation of the group’s year-end file.
• Participate in administrative projects as requested.
• Participate in the training and management of team members.
• Propose recommendations for continuous improvement of accounting methods and processes, as needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Accounting.
• At least 5 years of experience as an Assistant Controller within a professional services firm or any equivalent environment.
• Professional accounting designation, an asset.
• Experience in project accounting.
• Experience in taxation (T1, T2, T3, T5, T5013, etc.), an asset.
• Experience in investment accounting, an asset.
• Knowledge of Great Plains, Business Central, CaseWare/View, Taxprep software, an asset.
• Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
• Detail-oriented and meticulous.
• Hands-on and involved in deliverables.
• Recognized as a collaborative and key team player.
• Excellent command of French (spoken and written).
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
